Wonderful lowcountry lifestyle, close proximity to Hilton Head and Savannah, great weather and low taxes all make retiring in Bluffton an easy decision. 

Sun City Hilton Head

The largest 55+ community in the area is Sun City Hilton Head. Construction began in April 1994 by Del Webb, with it’s first residents moving in in August 1995. The community now sprawls 9 square miles on both sides of route 278, with 9000 homes expected by completion.  New single family homes are still being built on the “North Side”, starting in the mid $200Ks.  Sun City offers three golf courses Hidden Cypress and Okatie Creek Golf Courses combined account for approximately 320 acres with approximately 5-6 miles of golf paths per each course. Argent Lakes Golf Course covers 77 acres.  Other amenities include 2 onsite restaurants, six swimming pools (two indoor and four outdoor), a performing arts center, crafts center, woodworking shop, dog park, softball field, pickleball, croquet, tennis and bocce courts. Over 100 clubs/groups organize activities for every interest.

In March 2021, Sun City announced a new section of Sun City - East Argent.  This new section will include 1500 new residences including single familyhomes and villas, and and an expansive amentity center including resort style pool (complete with cabanas and a swim up bar), amphitheatre, indoor running track and pool, billard room yoga rooms, fitness center and lot's of multi functional meeting space. The Haven

The Haven is another Del Webb community, on a smaller scale. This built out community offers many of the same floorplans as Sun City on slightly larger lots, which can be fenced. Residents can enjoy swimming, hiking, fitness, biking, tennis, and a full range of community social activities, including Bocce and Pickleball. A short drive to both Old Town Bluffton and Savannah, the community is located on New Riverside Drive, near Palmetto Bluff, the new Riverside Bike Trail, in walking distance of New Riverside Village.

Latitudes Margaritaville

Margaritaville, by Minto Communities, is in full development. Based on the Jimmy Buffet lifestyle, the community offers single family homes, villas and cottages, with prices starting from $212K - $370K.  The amenities include a tropical pool with swim up bar/restaurant, amphitheater, fitness center, tennis, pickleball courts, dog park and second activity center in the existing “Latitude Lakes” section.  As the community builds up, future plans include a town center.

Four Seasons at Carolina Oaks

Opening in Fall 2020,  Four Seasons at Carolina Oaks offers single family homes, starting in the $260Ks in a resort setting.  Amenities will include, a pool,  fitness center, tennis, and pickleball courts, activity rooms and a dog park. The first hmeowners move in April 2021.
